Conversation Starters:

  • Talk about your experience on Sunday morning.
    • How did God speak to you during worship?
    • Did you meet anyone new?
    • What was your main take-a-way from the message?
  • Of all the stats that Jeff shared (i.e. 20% of Canadians attend Church regularly, 56% never attend, and only 55% of Evangelical Christians attend while 21% of Evangelical Christians never attend), which surprised you the most? Why?
    • Why do you think it is that Canadians are attending church less and less?
    • Why do you think it is that even Christians sometimes walk away from the church all together?
  • Prior to Sunday’s message, how might have you answered the question, “Why Church?” Why do you think it’s important to be a part of a church community (or do you at all)?
  • Read Matthew 16:18 and Colossians 1:18 together. What do these verses show us about the church? Why is this so important to understand in order to make sense of Church?
  • Read Hebrews 10:23-25 and Colossians 3:16 together. In light of these verses (and any others that come to mind), why do you think that regular church attendance important (if you do at all)?
    • Do you feel that Sunday morning services are more for “building believers” or “reaching seekers”?
    • Why do you think preaching and corporate worship is important for people (no matter where they are at in their spiritual journeys), if you do at all?
  • Jeff shared that 82% of un-churched people are at least ‘somewhat likely’ to attend if invited, and that 7 out of 10 have never once been invited to attend a church service. How do you react to these statistics?
    • Who are you going to invite to church this week?
  • Spend some time in prayer with one another. Pray for our church, that we would see more and more people come to faith through the ministry of The Gathering. Pray for one another. Pray for the people who we will be inviting to church this week.
