Coming out of Sunday Sept 13th’s teaching, “UNITED: No More Us Vs Them“, spend some time in prayerful reflection and dialogue with your Home Church/Friends/Family about these questions:
Read through 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 before starting. Pray and ask God to speak.
- What were some of your key takeaways from this Sunday’s message? How did God speak to you?
- What are some ways you have noticed “Tribalism” in your life? What has this looked like for you?
- Is being a part of a ‘tribe/group/community’ with which you have things in common always a bad thing? Why or why not? What are some of the potential dangers? What are some of the potential benefits?
- Consider the 6 suggestions that Jeff gave for confronting “Tribalism” in our church and communities. Which one(s) resonate with you the most? Which one(s) might be the most challenging for you? Which one(s) do you think we need to be most careful with? Why?
- Befriend someone who holds different views
- Avoid the Echo Chamber
- Avoid ‘Othering’
- Be intentional to speak well of other people you disagree with
- Pray for/Bless people you disagree with
- Keep Your Eyes on Jesus!
- How is it that the good news of Jesus tear down the walls of tribalism? Why do you think it is that Christians so often miss this? (Galatians 3:28, James 2:1 & 9)
