United: Messages from Philippians

Messages from Philippians.

What does it like to be the mature in the faith? How can we know if we are actually growing together and becoming more unified as a church family? Join us as we talk through the book of Philippians together and consider what it means to be “United” in Christ!

All Things

Join us for the last Sunday in our "United" series through the book of Philippians as we look at the famous words of the Apostle Paul, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

Think About These Things

What we think about most tells us a lot about ourselves. So what does it look like to turn our thoughts “God-ward”? And how does worry and anxiety distract us from doing this?

The Goal

We all know that setting goals in life is a good thing to do. Whether it be fitness-related, work-related, finance-related, family-related… whatever. Setting goals can help us to achieve things in life that matter the most. But what does this look like in our spiritual journeys? What does it mean to “press on toward the goal” (Philippians 3:14) and to “strain forward” (Philippians 3:13)?

Rubbish!

What is the most important thing in your life? Your family? Your job? Your home? Your relationship with Christ? Your religion? Watch Jeff's message from Sun Nov 8, 2015 as we see how everything else in life should be considered “Rubbish” when compared to knowing and gaining Christ.

“Grumbling and Disputing” (Philippians 2:12-30)

Are you a glass-half-full or a glass-half-empty kind of person? Are you quick to notice and point out the positives or the negatives? Are you a “complainer” or an “encourager”? And what does this have to do with living the kind of lives “shine brightly for Christ”?

But in Humility…

It’s hard being friends with a cocky, arrogant & self-centered person. It’s what makes “Humility” such an important characteristic. It’s needed in every relationship, including (or maybe even – especially) in the family of God - the Church. But what does “Humility” actually look like in practical terms? Is it about being less confident and sure of ourselves, or is it something else completely? How does the Gospel make us humble? Join us next week for Week #3 in our “United” series as we continue journeying through the book of Philippians together.

To Live Is Christ

"For me to live is Christ, to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). How counter-cultural is this statement? Most of us are afraid of dying and far too often choose to live for ourselves (and not Christ). Just imagine how dangerous we would be for Christ and how united we would be as the church if we actually embraced this statement for ourselves!

Watch as Jeff teaches from Philippians 1:12-30.

Partners (Thanksgiving Sunday!)

“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.” (Philippians 1:3). What would it take for us to have the same reaction when we think of one another? How would our church be different if we saw ourselves as 'partners' and not just 'participants'? Join us this Sunday as we talk through Philippians 1:1-11 together and consider what it means to be "United" in Christ!
