Coming out of Sunday Oct 25th’s teaching, “UNITED: First Nations People”, spend some time in prayerful reflection and dialogue with your Home Church/Friends/Family about these questions:

Read through Luke 19:1-10, Ephesians 2:11-16 and Galatians 3:28 before starting. Pray and ask God to speak.

  1. What resonated most with you from Sunday’s message/interview with Derek Parentau? Why is that? How is God speaking to you?

  2. Why do you think the conversation around “First Nations people” and “The Church” can be such a complicated & controversial one? What has your personal experience been with this issue?

  3. Derek talked about how, for followers of Jesus, this issue should be seen not just as a political issue but as a body-of-Christ/Gospel issue. What’s the difference between the two? Why does this distinction matter so much for followers of Jesus?
  4. How can the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus help to shape the way that we think about and approach this issue? What are some takeaways from this story as it relates to this topic? What about the Ephesians 2 and Galatians 3 passages? How does the Gospel change the way we approach this issue?
  5. Derek talked about the concept of “micro-reconcilation” and the importance of building personal relationship with First Nations people. How does this happen? What might this look like in your life?
  6. What are some other potential next steps that God could be inviting you to take in regards to this specific issue?
