If you missed this past Sunday’s teaching, you can listen to it here.
- How did God speak to you on Sunday morning?
- What were your thoughts about the two stories that we watched on Sunday? How did they challenge you?
- Read Acts 20:32-35 together. What does this passage show us about the Gospel (the message of His grace, V32) and Generosity? How does the Gospel make us generous?
- What do you think Jesus meant when he said (as Paul quoted) “It is better to give than to receive”? What makes it ‘more blessed’? What does that mean?
- How does greed (‘covetousness’, as Paul talked about in verse 33) look like in our lives? (i.e. not ‘corporate’ greed, but self-centredness and prioritizing ourselves about the Kingdom of God and other people – living to get, instead of living to give). Give practical examples of greed in your own life.
- Jesus told us (in Luke 15:12) to guard our hearts against greed. What makes greed such a ‘sneaky’ sin? What can we do to guard against greed in our lives? How does the Gospel confront our greed?
- Jeff said that “the degree we understand the gospel is the degree to which we will live generous lives.” What do you think about this statement? What do you need to do to better ‘understand’ the Gospel in your own life?
- Questions for Refection:
- Does the Gospel compel me to live generously and to give? Why or why not?
- In what ways has greed potentially gotten a hold of my heart?
- What are some things that I spend money on effortlessly? What does that show me about my heart?
- How is God calling you to be generous this week?
