If you missed Sunday April 2nd’s message, you can listen to it by clicking here.

  • What have you been reflecting on in light of Sunday’s message? How did God speak to you during Sunday’s service?
  • Read Mark 9:2-13 together. What parts of this passage speak to you? What questions does it raise for you?
  • The main point of Jeff’s message (and of this passage) is that “God longs for his people to have mountaintop experiences with him.” Share about some of your mountaintop experiences with the group. What was so significant about these moments? How did/has God used them in your life?
  • Jeff talked about how one of the main reasons we don’t have mountaintop experiences with God is because we have too low of a view of Jesus, and we have too high a view of our circumstances & problems.
    • What does having “too high a view of our circumstances & problems” look like? How might this prevent us from experiencing God’s presence in our lives?
    • What does having “to low of a view of Jesus” mean? How might this prevent us from experiencing God’s presence in our lives?
    • What is the ‘solution’ to this?
  • Jeff talked about another reason why we don’t have mountaintop experiences: Because we believe we aren’t good enough.
    • Do you sometimes struggle with this? What does this look like for you?
    • What encouragement can we take from Peter in this story, about not being ‘good’ enough? (V5&6)  What does this show us about the Gospel?
    • Read Hebrews 10:19 together. How does this truth make you feel?
  • Ultimately, the reason we need mountaintop experiences is because of the chaos of life (V14-29); We need encounters with God in order to sustain us in this crazy life.
    • What does your current practice of connecting with God (mountaintop experiences) look like
    • How do you hear the voice of God in your life these days?
    • What can you do to have more of these moments with Christ this week?
