Compassion

Advent Conspiracy: Compassion Sunday

This advent season we are looking to celebrate Christmas in a counter-cultural way; by
Worshiping Fully, Spending Less, Giving More, and Loving all. One practical way we can
live into this is by sponsoring a child through Compassion Canada. Hear
about the incredible work God is doing in the lives of children around the world
through Compassion International.  Sponsor a child! BONUS! Recording artist WILL WALKER lead us in worship and shared his experience with Compassion.

Be the Change

Ghandi once said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” Ghandi may not have been a Christian, but he sure was right about this. Change starts with us. God wants His hope for the world to live in and through us. So, what does it mean to “be the change” in our world today?

Noticing the Unnoticed

Ever noticed that Jesus noticed the unnoticed in the world? What would it look like for us to become more like Jesus in this way? Watch Week 5 of Hope Lives here.

Hometown Missionary

When we think of a "missionary" we tend to think of someone who has abandoned the North American way of life to move to a remote and needy part of the world in order to bring help that wouldn't be there without them. We tend to think of these "missionaries" as having a high calling, and for the most part, we're comfortable leaving the missionary stuff to those who have received "the call". But what if being a missionary is the one thing that every Jesus-follower should have in common? What if being a missionary looks drastically different than we think? What does it mean to be a "hometown missionary"?

Check out what Tim Arnold, Outreach Pastor at Southridge Community Church in St. Catharines, had to say.

Becoming a Good Samaritan

Probably the most famous parable Jesus ever told is the story of “The Good Samaritan.” But unfortunately it’s become a bit of a cliché in today’s culture. So what can we actually learn from this story? And more importantly, as we think about how “Hope Lives” in and through us as the church, how can we become “Good Samaritans” to the poor and the broken in our world today?

Watch Pastor Jeff Jantzi as he unpacks the story of the Good Samaritan.

God Is Not Silent

God has not left the world to fend for itself. Hope lives in and through His church! This week we’ll explore what the Bible has to say about serving the poor, the widows, and the orphans, and how God desires for us to show His love to those in need.
